A SEED is network that initiates actions and campaigns on environmental and social justice issues. Our current campaigns are centred on issues surrounding the production, distribution and consumption of food (small, local organic farms instead of agribusiness, biotechnology and supermarkets selling genetically modified food); and the coordination of the World Bank Boycott in Europe. Our main activities are promoting discussion, encouraging positive action, distributing publications and coordinating meetings. We hope we can help you to organise your campaign, contact other useful groups, and find out useful information.

NIGD has been involved in transnational campaigns, for instance for a currency transactions tax and, more generally, for global democratization.
NIGD aims at strengthening global civil society and is also a founding member of the International Council of the World Social Forum.

The stance of the movement is for strong sustainability which is informed by "deep" ecological values. The group has concentrated its energies on the issues of land use, energy, pollution, and waste. The group has been successful in opposing many of the major developments which threatened to deplete Malta's countryside and coast. This work is supplemented by on-going educational activities and the preparation of reports on diverse environmental problems. Since 1994 the movement has put on the public agenda the threats posed by tourism to the Maltese islands, and has organized conferences, workshops, and meetings wherein those involved with the tourism industry have cooperated to achieve higher environmental standards in order to improve tourism destinations. The group also participated in the Sustainable Europe campaign and is currently lobbying for Malta to aim towards achieving equitable and sustainable levels of consumption by the year 2010.

Milieudefensie is a national organization with a hundred local groups. A separate youth organization, JMA, has several thousand partners.
The Netherlands is a densely populated and built up country, which largely defines the scope of our campaigns, for example the campaign for the legal protection of green and less populated countryside. We are campaigning for rules against the enormous use of cars, such as car-free city centres and better public transport. For years we have fought against the growth of Schiphol, one of Europe's largest airports. We are encouraging supermarkets chains to sell more biological products. Recycling, energy saving and sustainable energy are ongoing themes. In a "low" country like the Netherlands campaigns for climate change are especially important.
But the remit of our organization does not stop at our borders and one of our campaigns is concerned with the adverse effects of the liberalization of the world market and the role of the WTO.

FoE Sweden works with public information, mobilizing action and influencing decision-makers on all levels, from the household to the national and international levels, on a wide range of topics. A recurring theme is highlighting the role of the powerful economic driving forces behind a type of development that leads to human and environmental destruction. Much of the work is carried out by volunteers in working groups on issues such as energy, traffic, agriculture but also cross-cutting issues such as international financial institutions, the European Union, globalization etc. Local groups decide their own activities, but also participate in national and international campaigns. A major activity during the past years has been the Sustainable Sweden project, based on the concept of "fair shares of environmental space". FoE Sweden has produced a series of publications, touching on issues such as targets for material and energy flows, the household level, the local level, limited environmental space as a source of conflict, etc. The local group in Stockholm has produced an ambitious report on Sustainable Stockholm
