ATTAC

www.attac.org

ATTAC (Association for the Taxation of financial Transactions for the Aid of Citizens) is an international network of independent national and local groups in 33 countries. It promotes the idea of an international tax on currency speculation (the Tobin Tax) and campaigns to outlaw tax havens, replace pension funds with state pensions, cancel Third World debt, reform or abolish the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and, more generally, recapture the democratic space that has been lost to the financial world. ATTAC is independent from all political parties, and brings together labour unions, associations, MPs, academics and citizens from all walks of life, in self-education and peaceful action.

ActionAid believes that every person has a right to many of the simple things we take for granted. These include the right to food, healthcare, clean water, education, shelter and security. These are set out in the 1948 United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights and are defined in the constitution of many countries. However, millions of poor people are denied these rights. ActionAid believes that poverty will not end until everyone is able to assert their basic human rights.

Voluntary help needed: ActionAid is always looking for support from people with English writing skills. This includes articles on websites, documents, press release, case studies, and reports/publications. If you think you can help us with our writing in English, either by working in one of our offices or remotely by email, please contact David Robinson at David@actionaidasia.org.
